Hello World! I have just spent the last couple of hours attempting to add to and change my website. I am able to do the writing thing on my beloved Apple Mac (everyone in the plant should have one) but when it comes to doing other tecky stuff, I am utterly embarrassing. So I am beyond proud of myself - assuming it actually works and saves and you can all read and navigate it?!
For those of you who don't know me, I am new to the writing scene. I currently have 2 novels on the shelves, Designer Genes & Miss Conceived.
I fell into writing by default.
I have had a bit of an ongoing battle with cancer over the last number of years. The time I've spent in hospital beds and on the oncology unit inspired me to beginning logging what was happening. Designer Genes was born. I forgot to stop writing after that. The fact that lots of lovely people seemed to like what I was doing spurred me to write more. Miss Conceived was born, only this month!
I love my new job, and the only drawback with it, is the uncontrollable anxiety when I think of people reading my work! Having a book on the shelves of shops is the most wonderful and amazing experience and it's a feeling I will never take for granted. I just hope that people will enjoy my work. I have had some astonishing emails and letters from well meaning and truly wonderful people.
It astounds me that strangers will take time from their lives to sit and write to me. Your positive and encouraging words are worth their weight in gold. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.
I was diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time at the beginning of this month. I have just completed my radiation therapy, which made me feel like I had a very bad hangover - without the fun. Exhausted is not the word. I am taking a new form of chemotherapy for the next six months. It's a tablet form, so at least I won't look like a junkie with bruised and battered veins. My hair shouldn't fall out again either which is a blessed relief as I've just spent a fortune having my high lights done.
My kiddies have been on their summer holidays for almost a month already. They're ten and eight and three quarters (most important to point out the 3/4) and are a breeze once they have friends to play with. We're heading off to Spain for two weeks in July and I am soooo excited!
I included a little picture of me with my family in May. There's me, Cian (hubby) Sacha (our son 10) and Kim our daughter (8 3/4) who made her communion. I'm not religious but it was something she wanted to do. It was a lovely family day and it brought a great group of people together and I tried not to poison them all. Kim thought she was getting married and Sacha enjoyed beating the Pinata in a rather violent manner with a stick.
I hope this finds you all well and no doubt you are all enjoying the stunning weather. It's actually a real summer so far isn't it? I'll get back to you all after my holidays next month. If you haven't bought Designer Genes and Miss Conceived for everyone you know, please don't be shy! For the many readers who have parted with hard earned cash, I am on the floor on my knees doing a bowing typed thing with my arms out straight. I will even hum if you like sound effects.
Love
Emma x
